Global education is all about connections. The more connected we are, the more we perspectives we are exposed to and the more we learn about the world around us. Although we are relatively isolated here in Western Colorado, we have many opportunities to make regional and international connections. (Descriptions are taken from the source website)
IREX/Teaching for Global Classrooms Fellowship-- This is the fellowship I did. Teachers take an 8 week online course on global pedagogy, spend two to three weeks in a host country and develop a resource guide for teachers in their district. http://www.irex.org/project/teachers-global-classrooms-program-tgc
World Affairs Council--
The International Education Program’s goal is to equip students and teachers with the critical ability to analyze global issues and their effects on local lives. Through the highly regarded IEP, students and educators become independent and informed observers of world affairs. - See more at: http://www.dfwworld.org/IEP#sthash.mRbd0o3K.dpuf

Fulbright--
The Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Program, which is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and is administered by the Institute of International Education (IIE), seeks to improve mutual understanding among teachers, their schools and communities in the U.S. and abroad. This program allows teachers to go abroad for three to six months to take classes at an international university, observe classes and offer seminars in local schools and complete a project of their own design.
